3-year Nursing studies is a full-time programme (classes are held from Monday to Friday). There is a possibility to enrol in a full-time seven semesters (3.5 year) study (classes are held on particular days of the week).
Nursing Studies prepare future graduates to provide holistic care for human health, family health and population health. The programme of studies enables students to obtain qualifications and competences which are essential to carry out complex professional tasks. Nursing as a scientific discipline and as a practical activity provides the opportunities for self-development, enriching one’s knowledge and constant development of practical skills. Education in this field of study encompasses both tradition and contemporary changes that take place in the healthcare system, in the system of education and in the nursing practice in Poland and in the European Union countries. Self-reliance and the autonomy of the job of a nurse require from graduates broad and interdisciplinary knowledge and the ability to provide health services in the scope of: health promotion, preventive treatment, diagnostics, treatment, rehabilitation and care. Graduates have the possibility of continuing their education in the second-cycle studies (Master’s Degree programme). They can also take up various forms of postgraduate studies.
Graduates of the first-cycle Nursing Studies posses the knowledge and skills necessary to:
- provide nursing care for healthy people, people exposed to risk factors, ill patients in their living environment, working and scientific environment, and in the healthcare centres
- plan and carry out professional tasks, based on professional, modern knowledge of Medicine and various fields of Nursing
- provide support for people terminally ill, for the disabled and for dying patients
- establish cooperation with the therapeutic team, family and with the local community
- develop their nursing profession and practice, and to implement new working methods and organisational solutions
- provide the right quality of healthcare services
Graduates obtain a degree Bachelor of Nursing and a licence to practice the profession, therefore they can start work in public and private healthcare centres, including: hospitals, primary healthcare centres, residential care facilities, palliative care facilities and nursing homes; as well as in public administration institutions which deal with health protection, in institutions obliged to finance health services, in the uniformed services (police, prison system, the army) and in the trade associations for Nurses and Midwives.
