GUIDELINES FOR HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS REGARDING THE RISK OF CONTAGION OF CORONAVIRUS

In the recent announcement, the Chief Sanitary Inspectorate in Poland (pol.: Główny Inspektor Sanitarny) has issued guidelines for higher education institutions in respect to the potential risk of contagion of coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) in Poland.

Currently, there are no official directives of the World Health Organization (WHO), or of the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), on how to proceed with individuals who have shown clinical and epidemiological symptoms of coronavirus.

The Chief Sanitary Inspectorate in Poland currently advices against traveling to the following countries: China, South Korea, Italy (in particular regions of Lombardy, Veneto, Piedmont, Emilia-Romagna), Iran, Vietnam, Singapore, Taiwan.

Currently, the Crisis Management Team of the Ministry of Health in Poland are developing guidelines for those departing to and returning from Italy. After return, it is recommended that the individual contact State Sanitary Inspectorate. If it is possible, any travels to regions of the heightened risk should be cancelled.

You may have contracted virus if you have displayed the following symptoms:

CLINICAL SYMPTOMS:

* fever;

* cough;

* difficulties in breathing;

EPIDEMIOLOGICAL SYMPTOMS:

* has traveled/resided in an area where sustained SARS-CoV-2 transmission is suspected;

* has been in close contact with a person who has been diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection (contact with a confirmed or probable case);
